Paarl and the Wineries

Get up early and the refreshing cool breeze of Cape Town before you embark on 2 hrs drive via the N1, As you drive out of Cape Town through the residential area you are suddenly welcomed by the scenic rolling landscape of Stellenbosch on the right and Paarl on your left
Imposing its feature on your left is the Paarl rock one of the two single largest rock outcrops in the world – the other being the Uluru rock or the Ires rock in the central Northern Australia.

Worcester

Immediately after Paarl you drive through a 4km Huguenot Tunnel that extends on the N1 national highway through the Du Toitskloof mountains that separate Paarl from Worcester. On exiting the tunnel you drive through the magnificent view of the freeway snaking between two sets of rocky mountains that separate Paarl from Worcester.

De Doreens

After the mountains you are welcomed by the mesmerizing views of the vineyards stretching as far as the eye can see from the foot of the mountains on both sides. Then you get to Worcester, drive past the beautiful valley of De Doreens where you are further welcomed by vineyards on both sides of the freeway.

The Little Karoo

Bordering De Doreens is Little Karoo, this is generally a dry area but definitely one of the more diverse regions in the western cape. It has gigantic diffs, landscape similar to a desert, crystal clear streams and fertile vineyards, it’s separated from the much more extensive great Karoo by the Swartberg mountains.

In there you find Aquila Game Reserve in the middle of this dry area but home to the Big Five

Aquila Safari

On driving through the gates it sends a shiver down the spine as you smell the presence of the wild scents or simply spot droppings of some of the animals.
You are then ushered into a luxurious African kitchen where you are treated to a buffet breakfast before going on a 2½ hrs game drive. Game drives are done in open air 4×4 safari vehicles with protective barriers. Blankets are also provided to protect you from either dust or the cold weather.
Then you start the life time experience, up close with the African wild, maybe you might need to pinch yourself to check you are not dreaming.
You get up close the Buffaloes, the Hippos playing in the mud the towering Giraffe, majestic Zebras and much more. You also have the opportunity to get up close to the king of the jungle the Lion.
Lastly after driving through the African bundu viewing the small, big cats and the captivating bird life you now return to the kitchen for lunch and of course a glass of wine or a cold beer.
The tour ends with your departure from the game reserve back to Cape town which is a drive of about 2 hrs.
